Plagiarism & AI Policy

The ALI–ABA Business Law Course Materials Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and responsible scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts must be original works and must comply with accepted standards of research and publication ethics.

Plagiarism Policy: Authors are required to ensure that their manuscripts are original and that all sources, ideas, quotations, data, and other materials derived from previous works are appropriately acknowledged and cited. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial overlap with previously published work, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct are not acceptable. Manuscripts may be subjected to plagiarism and similarity screening during the editorial or peer-review process. Where substantial plagiarism or inappropriate overlap is identified, the manuscript may be rejected. If misconduct is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy: Authors may use artificial intelligence and AI-assisted tools for limited purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, formatting assistance, translation, or other technical support. However, the use of AI tools must not replace the author's intellectual contribution, scholarly judgment, research, analysis, or responsibility for the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted content.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the content, disclose conflicts of interest, or provide accountability for the research. Where AI has been used substantially in the preparation of a manuscript, authors should transparently disclose the nature and purpose of such use in an appropriate statement accompanying the submission.

Authors are responsible for verifying all AI-assisted content, including citations, references, quotations, legal authorities, factual statements, and interpretations. Fabricated references, inaccurate legal authorities, invented sources, or misleading information generated through AI tools will be treated as the responsibility of the submitting author.

The journal may use appropriate technological tools, including similarity-detection and AI-related screening technologies, as part of its editorial quality-control procedures. Such tools are considered aids to editorial assessment and do not, by themselves, constitute definitive evidence of plagiarism or misconduct. Final editorial decisions will be based on the manuscript, available evidence, applicable ethical standards, and editorial judgment.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work complies with the journal's standards of originality, academic integrity, responsible AI use, and publication ethics.
